This isn’t just some “try cool foods” food your. This tour can change your perspective on Mexican history, art, politics, economics, food, and indeed life itself.
It’s so much more… read more than a food tour. And that’s mostly because of Rocio! She’s smart, funny, and delightfully cheeky. It’s clear that she knows the backstory to anything you can see in Puebla, and brings a wealth of historical, gastronomic, philosophical, and socioeconomic insights. Think of it as hiring a professor to walk you around town. But one of those really cool college professors that isn’t afraid to have a drink with her students.
And on top of it all, yes, the food is amazing! Even if you fancy yourself a Mexican food expert (and trust me, you’re not – I thought I was), you are guaranteed to learn more and think more deeply about the food after this experience.

I signed up for this tour to get an introduction to food and what I received was so much more. I knew I had made the right choice in tour… read more at the first stop with the breakfast foods made from indigenous ingredients and traditional recipes. It was the food/agricultural/cultural/religious and political information and context that went with every step of the tour that made the day such a worthwhile and entertaining day. In total, I think we made 8 or 9 stops and almost all included several different items to taste. I came home with enough food for another two delicious meals. I’m going to tell all my friends that come to Mexico that is is a “must do” activity in Puebla.

How to even capture fully what a wonderful experience this was? Rocio’s tour is an amazing introduction to Puebla and its incredibly rich food traditions. I could not have imagined… read more what I was in for! Not only is Rocio a dedicated Poblana with deep affection for her city, but she is also an incredible food historian whose knowledge about Mexican food and culture runs very deeply. A true wealth of knowledge! While food is at the heart of this experience, you will also learn so much more about Puebla’s history, the significance of a number of its sites, and more. It was such a pleasure, and I greatly enjoyed our conversation along the way.
Don’t think too hard about doing this––just do it, and do it early on during your visit to Puebla! (But do take her advice seriously and hold off on breakfast that morning––you will definitely want the room.)

Our day in Puebla with Rocio was fantastic! She took us on a historical and culinary journey, showing us Puebla’s most famous buildings and delicious cuisine.

We wondered around the streets of Puebla and she explained the significance of the historical buildings providing us with a well rounded appreciation for Poblano culture and history.
