February 10, 2020rocio.carvajal.cortes@gmail.com

Presented by: Rocio Carvajal Food history writer, cook and author.

Episode 52

Karina Jimenez is a Mexican-American third-generation food entrepreneur who harvested inspiration and drive from her bicultural upbringing and arts background to create Viva los Cupcakes.

Tamal de mole, salsa verde, conchita and mazapan are some of the many cupcake flavours that hide in plain sight an ingenious culinary transgression that provokes curiosity and starts conversations about shared traditions, innovation and cultural resilience, all in one delicious bite.

We talk about the professional and personal challenges of learning to ask for help, becoming a successful business owner and voicing a generation of Latinas breaking cultural stereotypes and creating opportunities for others to grow.
